A Saturday morning. A medical licence. A van and a driving licence. Fluent Hausa. Whatever you have, there is almost certainly a family it would reach further than a cheque.
This organisation began as volunteers, and it is still mostly volunteers.
That is not a cost-saving measure. Volunteers from the community know which street flooded last year, which family has stopped sending their daughter to school, and which grandmother will not ask for help even when she needs it. No paid programme officer can replace that.
We ask for honesty about your time rather than heroics. An hour a month you actually keep is worth far more to us than a day a week you cannot.
Six roles. Pick one, or tell us you are happy anywhere.
Cook, serve and clear at the feeding programme that started all of this.
Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists for our mobile clinic days.
Pack, load, drive and hand out. The unglamorous half of every programme.
Help assess, assemble and fit wheelchairs — then follow up months later.
Be reachable when a flood or fire hits. Deploy within seventy-two hours.
Grant writing, translation, design, bookkeeping, photography, web work.
From application to first shift, usually about two weeks.
Fill in the form below. It takes about five minutes and there is no CV required.
A short, friendly conversation within a week — what you want, what we need, whether they meet.
Safeguarding checks for anyone working near children, plus whatever training the role needs.
You are paired with an experienced volunteer. Nobody is thrown in on their own.
The ones people ask before they apply.
Yes — genuinely. Two hours you reliably show up for beats a day a month you cancel. Tell us honestly what you can keep to and we will build around it.
For four of the six roles, none at all — we train you. Medical volunteering needs current professional registration, and driving roles need a valid licence. Everything else we can teach.
No. We reimburse travel to and from placements, and meals on full field days. Volunteering should cost you time, not money.
Anyone working near children or vulnerable adults goes through a safeguarding check and two references. It is not personal — it is the same for everyone, including our trustees.
For skills-based and remote work, absolutely — grant writing, translation, design and bookkeeping all happen at a distance. Field roles need you on the ground, and we do not run voluntourism placements.
That is completely fine. A monthly gift funds the training and travel that makes everyone else's volunteering possible.
